Education

The Haywood County School consistently rank among the top school systems in the state. The county has 15 schools that serve over seven thousand students K-12. The Maggie Valley area is served by the Jonathan Valley Elementary School, Waynesville Middle School and Tuscola High School.
Haywood Community College is six miles to the east of Maggie Valley, and is one of the first community colleges in the southeast. There are 32 curricula programs being offered in addition to the hundreds of adult basic education, occupational extension and arts and crafts courses. The Regional High Tech Center, a four million dollar facility is one of twenty in the US specializing in electronics and manufacturing technology.
Western Carolina University and the University of North Carolina at Asheville, both a part of the North Carolina University systems, are 30 minute drives away.
The Haywood County Public Library extends free library services to Haywood County Residents. There is a branch mini library located at the Town Hall / Community Center.

 Cultural

Haywood County and Maggie Valley are rapidly growing in and with the arts. Haywood County Arts Council is a rapidly growing and successful organization providing numerous cultural opportunities to our residents and visitors.Folkmoot USA is an international folk festival that dramatically draws visitors and performers from around the globe. It has become one of the top twenty events in the southeast.
