Maggie Valley lies in north west Haywood County which, is located in the southwestern range of the mountains
of North Carolina. The town covers a valley floor with areas of development in all directions. Although partially developed, the adjacent mountains retain their scenic beauty. We are surrounded by four counties;
Buncombe to the East, Mountains to the northeast, Transylvania to the south and Jackson to the west. A scant 24 miles to the west is the Tennessee State line while South Carolina and Georgia are less than an hour away.
Climate
Our motto sums it up "Where Spring Spends the Summer and lingers through the Fall". We are blessed with the beautiful weather of four full seasons. The mean annual
temperatures is 54.5 degrees F. The mean maximum temperature is 71.3 in July and the mean minimum temperature is 38.9 in January. The average rainfall is 45.13 inches and the average snowfall is 12.5 inches. The average
growing season is 175 days. The mean date of the first fall freeze is October and the mean date of the last frost in spring is April.
